Our virtual lab packages provide a structured way to set up and integrate Virtual Reality into your training program and support the blended learning approach of Learn, Practice. Perform.  Tooling U-SME Virtual Labs allow learners to Practice newly acquired skills in a safe environment.

 

 

Below are the steps required to begin using Virtual Labs. If you are unsure on how to do any of the steps, scroll to the FAQ sections for instructions.

 

Requirements for Experiencing Tooling U-SME Virtual Labs

 

  1. Choose the virtual lab version to use: Full Virtual Reality Experience or Computer Version.
  2. Assign virtual labs to Students via Tooling U – SME Administration Center.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

How Can I Experience Tooling U-SME Virtual Labs?

 

There are two ways to experience Tooling U – SME Virtual Labs:  via a Meta Quest Headset or Desktop/Laptop computer.

 

Experiencing Tooling U-SME labs in a true 360-degree virtual reality environment requires the following:

 

  • An active Tooling U-SME Student Subscription
  • Meta Quest headset with the Tooling U-SME Meta Quest App installed 
  • An unobstructed area of space of at least 6.5 feet by 6.5 feet (2 meters by 2 meters)

 

 

 

Experiencing our labs via desktop/laptop requires the following:

 

  • An active Tooling U-SME Student Subscription
  • Virtual Labs assigned to Student via a Tooling U-SME Administrator
  • A desktop/laptop computer with a web browser (almost any modern browser will work) 

What If I Do Not Have a Meta Quest Headset?

 

If you’re not ready to make the investment in headsets, Students may access virtual labs from their computers. The computer-based version requires Students to utilize controls on their computers to navigate through the virtual lab environment.

 

I Just Purchased a Meta Quest. Now What?

How Do I Download the Tooling U-SME Virtual Lab App?

 

After setting up your new device, download the Tooling U-SME Meta Quest App.

How do I Assign Virtual Labs to Students?

 

Tooling U-SME virtual labs are available for active Tooling U-SME Student subscriptions. Tooling U-SME Administrators assign virtual labs to Students via the Tooling U-SME Administration Center, and the process is similar to adding eLearning classes.

 

Note: Once an Administrator assigns a virtual lab to a Student’s account, the Student may access the virtual lab via the Tooling U-SME Meta Quest App or via the computer.

How do Students Access Virtual Labs Once They’re Assigned?

Once a virtual lab is in a Student’s account, they access the lab either from their computer via their Tooling U-SME Student account or their Meta Quest headset via the Tooling U-SME Virtual Lab App. The following resources offer further guidance:
