Tooling U-SME Technical Requirements

 

Listed below are the minimum system requirements for the proper viewing of Tooling U-SME classes. Our classes may function with other configurations, but these requirements ensure a quality learning experience. Adobe Reader is required to view PDF files available for each class.

Network Bandwidth

 

A broadband internet connection is required for larger images, audio, video, interactive components, and Virtual Labs.

 

We recommend at least 25 megabits per second (Mbps) for download speeds and 3 Mpbs upload speed.

Screen Resolution

 

The minimum screen resolution recommended is 1024 x 768 pixels

Ram

8 GB is the minimum recommendation 

Generally, we recommend a minimum of 8GB of RAM for the Virtual labs and our eLearning classes.  Less Ram may work fine or more may be needed depending on your specific computer/Chromebook specifications and installed extensions.

Tooling U-SME Data Center

As of July 2017, Tooling U-SME is located with the Microsoft Azure Cloud environment – a global network of state-of-the-art Microsoft Datacenters. Azure is committed to continuously investing in the latest infrastructure technologies, with a focus on high reliability and operational excellence. Leveraging Azure Tooling U-SME can now dynamically scale and deploy resources for our applications on demand without the need to upgrade physical hardware.

The Tooling U-SME site runs on Microsoft .NET framework version 4.8 and is hosted in the Azure App Service and Microsoft SQL Server 2016 database with a comprehensive backup strategy to keep backups current and secure in an off-site location.
